Kodjo Esseim Mensah-Abrampa (PhD)
Nana Dr. Esseim Kwaakontan III, the Fotosanfuᴐhene (Minister of Finance) of Denkyira Traditional Area is also known in private life as Dr. Kodjo Esseim Mensah-Abrampa. He was appointed the Board Chairman for CEDECOM in March 2018. He currently works as the Senior Technical Adviser to the Minister for Planning in Ghana. He was a member of the technical team that developed the Coordinated Programme of the President of Ghana (2017-2024) and currently facilitating its dissemination. Dr. Mensah-Abrampa, prior to taking up the home task was a Senior Policy Adviser for the United Nations Development Programme headquarters at New York responsible for Local Development and Urbanization portfolio and initiated several economic development and investment programmes in post-conflict and recovery countries. He had before that spent five years working as the Deputy Head of Office for Eastern and Southern Africa for UN Capital Development Fund facilitating private sector funding for public infrastructure and local economic development in the Africa Region. At home in Ghana, he worked as a lecturer/researcher in Development Planning & Project Management at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, a Monitoring and Evaluation Expert for the Ghana Poverty Reduction Project under the National Development Planning Commission, and as a Senior Governance Adviser for Netherlands Development Organisation in Accra.
He is an ardent economic development planning and public-private-partnership expert and has undertaken advisory and consultancy assignments for key development organisations including the World Bank, EU, DfID, GIZ, AfDB, RIC and many others. He shared his experience as a guest lecturer with University of Dortmund in Germany, 1996-1999 and supported scholarly activities in Yale University School of Governance’s Conflict Programme, July 2015; and MIT’s Urban and Regional Planning Programme, August 2015. He is also a member of the National Population Council and currently serves as a technical member of several national development initiatives.
He is a scholar and practitioner in Development Planning and Public Finance with a Bachelors in Planning from KNUST, a Masters in Public Administration from University of Ghana, and a Doctorate in Development Economics and Public Financial Management from University of Dortmund Germany.
He is a strong believer that Central Region, the premier region, must be the development pacesetter for Ghana. He is always exceptionally proud to indicate that he was an Assembly member for the Twifo-Hemang-Lower Denkyira District Assembly until he took up the UN appointment.
