Background

Extreme hunger and malnutrition remain a huge obstacle to development in many countries. Achieving Zero Hunger (SDG2) beckons major investments in agriculture, natural resources infrastructure and technology to improve agricultural productivity. These investments are however conjoined to a wide range of social, economic, and environmental challenges.

The session shall seek to bring together high-powered representatives from MMDAs, MoFA, Policy Makers, Food and Agriculture Organization, International Fund for Agriculture Development, World Bank and Educationists from The University of Cape Coast (UCC) to discuss amongst other critical issue, the need for and benefits of attracting investments in Agricultural and Natural Resources into the Central Region to attain SDGs to ultimately assist the rural poor overcome poverty. This high-level session will further seek to expand knowledge and make recommendations on how to benefit from international agricultural investments at reduced risk and also highlight modules in responsible agricultural investment principles, and evaluate pertinent policy dimensions and future policy-oriented research in view of promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
